What Hunt County and the SPCA of Texas Don’t Want You to Know: The United K9 Story

Truth, Transparency, and Trust: Standing Strong for Our K9 Community

In the world of animal care and training, integrity isn’t just a word it’s the foundation of every relationship we build, every dog we train, and every client who trusts us with their four-legged family members. Recently, United K9 Academy found itself caught in the crossfire of misinformation, bureaucratic failure, and misuse of authority. Today, we’re sharing our story to ensure the truth is known and the community we serve continues to stand united.

On April 1, 2024, a joint operation by the SPCA Of Texas and Hunt County Sheriff’s Office raided a separate facility, K9 Academy (who’s story will be coming out). Despite having no involvement with that business, United K9 Academy’s name was wrongfully linked in the SPCA’s initial press release. Within hours, that misinformation spread online resulting in threats, reputational damage, and personal risk to our founder and staff.

Just days later, on April 3, the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office arrested our founder based on a complaint riddled with inconsistencies and procedural violations. No animals were seized during the arrest a detail that contradicts the very mission the SPCA claims to uphold. Under Texas law, when a caretaker is detained, animals must receive immediate care and evaluation. None of that happened.

Months of investigation have since revealed disturbing details: missing evidence, altered affidavits, and individuals acting without lawful authority or oversight. Despite these challenges, the case was dismissed in the interest of justice. Evidence showed that the dogs involved were already injured and medicated before entering our care records that were withheld or ignored during the investigation.

While this ordeal tested our resolve, it also reinforced our purpose. At United K9 Academy, our mission has always been to serve with honesty, compassion, and professionalism values rooted deeply in the discipline and duty of our founder, a 100% disabled veteran who believes in accountability over retaliation.

The fight for transparency continues. We’re working to ensure that agencies entrusted with animal welfare operate lawfully, ethically, and with respect for those who dedicate their lives to training, rescuing, and rehabilitating dogs. We also continue to collaborate with law enforcement and veterans’ organizations to strengthen standards and restore faith in the K9 community.

Our request is simple: truth, fairness, and reform. The public deserves accuracy, our animals deserve advocacy, and our trainers deserve respect. United K9 Academy remains committed to these principles not just for ourselves, but for every handler, rescuer, and K9 partner across Texas and beyond.

Together, we stand for the voiceless both the dogs we train and the truth we defend.

United K9 Magazine will continue to highlight stories of courage, reform, and the unwavering bond between humans and their K9 companions.

Introducing the United K9 Accountability Team

A New Force for Fairness, Transparency, and Justice in Animal Welfare

United K9 is proud to announce the launch of a powerful new initiative: the United K9 Accountability Team — a dedicated group formed to support individuals and businesses who have been harmed, misrepresented, or targeted by NGOs, shelters, or animal-welfare organizations operating without oversight or accountability.

Across the country, countless trainers, rescuers, handlers, and responsible pet owners have faced intimidation, false allegations, unlawful searches, and public smear campaigns carried out under the banner of “animal protection.” Many of these organizations operate with no governing authority, no external review, and no consequences when they overstep their legal boundaries.
